Cru Women look to grow their numbers for 2019 OWL season
2018 was a year to remember for Crusaders Rugby. Among the celebrations honouring 50 years of rugby excellence at the club, the Senior Women dominated the TRU with an outstanding 12-0 record on the season.
As a result of that success, the Senior Women have been promoted to the OWL for 2019. In addition to leading the team to an undefeated record, returning head coach Kailyn Jones was named Rugby Ontario’s Female Club Coach of the Year. With that pedigree of leadership at the helm, the Senior Women are looking to grow the program and continue their winning momentum of last year. Coach Jones had this to say in response to the record-setting season:
“I’ve been with the Crusaders for almost 6 years now and it’s given me good friends, a competitive environment and opportunity to grow as a player and coach. I’d like to extend an OPEN INVITIATION to any athlete that wants to join our program. Playing in the Ontario Women’s League is a huge feat. However, we have put an emphasis on growing our program on the field AND off the field. Whether you’re interested in playing at a competitive level, or are looking for a rugby team to have fun with throughout the week, I would encourage you to come out for our program. We are excited to see a lot of new and old faces working together to take on the OWL.”
If you are interested in joining the team, or if you know someone who would be interested, please email coach Jones directly at k.jones.3@hotmail.com
