Code of Conduct

The Crusaders Rugby Club is committed to the values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. The Code of Conduct outlines the behavior expected by members and participants of the Crusaders Rugby Club, including players, parents, spectators and coaches, to ensure a safe, fair and inclusive environment at club facilities and during club activities elsewhere.

Players:

  • Players within the Crusaders Rugby Club are expected to:
  • Encourage all players.
  • Never use insults, humiliation, harassment or discrimination.
  • Be polite and welcoming to the opposition.
  • Respect the coaches and officials’ decisions without challenging or verbally disagreeing with them.
  • Set a positive example for others and be a role model particularly to younger players.
  • Never consume substances, including drugs and alcohol, to a point of impairment that impacts performance, judgment and decision making.
  • Any player in breach of the Code of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action.

Parents and Spectators:

Parents and spectators within the Crusaders Rugby Club are expected to:

  • Congratulate the opposition and make their supporters welcome.
  • Never enter the playing area.
  • Avoid coaching the child/children during the game.
  • Never verbally abuse match officials, players or other spectators.
  • Never threaten, intimidate, or give offence by way of insult, humiliation, harassment or discrimination.
  • Always be positive and encouraging towards all of the players and not just your own.
  • Respect the coaches and officials’ decisions without challenging or verbally disagreeing with them.
  • Behave as good role models.
  • Remember that players are participating to have fun.
  • Never consume substances, including drugs and alcohol, to a point of impairment that impacts decision making and judgment.

Any parent/spectator in breach of the Code of Conduct may be asked to remove themselves from the training session/game immediately and be subject to further disciplinary action.

Coaches, Staff and Volunteers

Coaches, staff and volunteers within the Crusaders Rugby Club are expected to:

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of each and every person equally particularly within the context of the sport.
  • Place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance.
  • Never exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.
  • Encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.
  • Ensure that activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of players.
  • Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play).
  • Never consume substances, including drugs and alcohol, to a point of impairment that impacts decision making and judgment.
  • Consistently display high standards of behaviour and be role models.
  • Never tolerate inappropriate behaviour from players, parents, spectators or anyone acting on behalf of the Club.
  • Adhere to the policies of the Club.

Any coach in breach of the Code of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action.
